WAYNE SOJOURNER

Owner / Logger

Wayne was born and raised in Copiah County. He still lives on the same family farm where he was born. He and his older brother, John Sojourner, were raised on the farm with a fantastic mother and dad. In the early years, the Sojourner family owned and operated chicken houses and a cattle farm and were known for their hard work ethic and giving spirit.

The Sojourner family transitioned into the wood business in the 1980’s and are still very active in the land and timber business today. Wayne’s logging crew has always been very sought after by landowners in south and central Mississippi. They were chosen as Outstanding Logger of the Year for the state of Mississippi in 2002 and continue to be very involved in their local Copiah County Forestry Association, Log-A-Load for Kids, MS Forestry Association, and MS Logger’s Association.

Wayne married his high school sweetheart, Susie. They have been married for 37 wonderful years. This couple has been blessed in the land and timber business, but they’ve never let those blessings get in the way of what is truly important in life. God has blessed them with 3 wonderful sons, 3 precious daughter-in-laws and 7 fantastic grandchildren. Wayne and Susie attend Harmony Baptist Church where they both are very active serving the Lord. Susie’s heart is leading the women’s mission groups, serving her community, and helping families in need. Wayne’s time is spent teaching, discipling and helping serve through the office of deacon. They are both very active in the “Walk to Emmaus” and mission projects local and abroad. Teen Challenge in Georgetown and Foundation on the Rock in Crystal Springs, both of which minister to those struggling with either life addictions or abusive relationships, are two local ministries that are very important to this family and their church. Sharing the hope of the gospel and making disciples encompasses every part of their lives. Whether it’s in their community or across the world, this family is truly Kingdom minded every day.

As an owner in LandMAX with his partner Chad Smith, Wayne’s heart is to see his businesses operated in such a way that Christ is always glorified. He wants to see LandMAX be successful in the timber and real estate business, but, more than anything else, he wants to see people’s lives changed through the power of Jesus.

If you ever have land or timber to sell, call Wayne; he welcomes the opportunity to talk to you. However, if you ever need someone to talk to about issues that really matter, feel free to contact him. He would love the opportunity to share with you about what the Lord has done in his life and what He can do in yours.

When a landowner is looking for long-term timber management assistance or an immediate thinning or final harvest operation one wants expertise, experience and trust. We use and recommend Keith Polk and Wayne Sojourner at LANDMAX TIMBER COMPANY. They not only do a thorough and excellent job, but they treat your land as if it were their own. Proper advice and proper cutting from trusting people are what landowners want and need. – Kent Newman and Sells Newman

I have known Wayne Sojourner for many years. All of Wayne’s life he has been an asset to our community in Crystal Springs, MS. Last year Wayne harvested my timber & did an excellent job not only harvesting my timber but also walking me through the process of having my land replanted. I would recommend Wayne & LandMAX to anyone. You will find them people of high integrity. – Bruce Gaddy

Last year Wayne Sojourner performed & managed the harvesting operation on the Camp Hood Boy Scout Reservation in Copiah County, MS. In every way Wayne exercised good judgment and leadership in removing the timber with little damage to the remaining trees and to the camp appurtenances. He was cordial to all, and did much to make this necessary logging operation a success. This was a big operation and could have had a much different outcome without Wayne’s leadership and commitment. He was a pleasure to work with. – Ramon Callahan
